Oh Man. It Rained!

We are lucky in Room 9, when it rains we still get to do our fitness because our classroom has enough space for us to do jump jam. Hooray! We love JUMP JAM! Especially when we have been cooped up inside all day.

Interactive Writing

Coby is writing his ideas down onto our plan

Using our collective ideas to write
Today the vivid writing group used the Interactive White Board for their writing.

We start the day...

We start the day with a karakia.

Followed by several waiata - Te Aroha

Finishing off with Ko Taranaki
We are also learning songs for the school production in Term 2.  I can see clearly now is the latest song that we have added to our play list!

What are other countries about???

This week we have been looking at other countries (China, India, Arctic, England and Africa).  It has been very interesting finding out what each countries biggest natural feature was (and learning the difference between natural and man made features).  The group who had Africa felt that the giraffe was their tallest natural feature :) wasn't their thinking great!
We were also learning about how to effectively use google to help us find our answers.  Some tricks we learnt were how to read the site blurbs BEFORE we entered them, we looked for key words so we could skim and scan a page and how to refine our questions when we type them.
This task also helped us to develop our communication skills.  We needed to choose people for certain tasks, negotiate who was going to be the 'googler', we had set time frames to complete the task and an expectation that all questions needed to be answered.

The group is in deep discussion about which country they have.... India?

Robyn, Coby and Alaina are all contributing to get the task done.

Wini is looking for the most interesting African animal!

Swanna is applying her new mapping skills :)

Library Day!

We are so lucky to be able to enjoy the pleasure of reading books at our leisure. What a fantastic resource the library is!
On Wednesday Room 9 have their time in the library.
Alaina and Michaela are busy searching for a book on the computer.

Coby is enjoying a relaxing read!

Kyle and Ari are browsing the graphic novels.

Ella is looking for the PERFECT book!

The library is a great place for us to enjoy, however some of us must remember our book bags for next time so we can take books home too!

Seed books - FIRST DAY!

Ari is writing about his pets.

In my seed book I glued in a pictured of a lady who had a wedding dress on because my cousin got married on Saturday afternoon. Another thing I glued in was half a monarch butterfly that my cat caught in the garden. By Shanelle.

Robyn has a page full of duathlon photos!
I have some photos of my other animals in my seed book. I have a photo of me as a baby sitting outside reaching out for the camera. My seed book has a fern and an old ten cent in my seed book. By Noah C

Michaela has a page full of her in her dancing outfits.

Today I didn't bring my seed book because my picture of Tilung is still drying out because we used really runny glue. I still have more stuff to put in like another photo of Mr Snuffles and lots of other stuff and I couldn't put it in because of the glue on the other page. By Mitchell
